Leech Lake Legacy receives ASPCA grant to assist with transports

Jean of Carver Scott Humane Society welcomes her new
foster dog who arrived on transport from Red Lake Reservation
Leech Lake Legacy was notified last week that we are receiving a $2,500 grant from the ASPCA to assist us with the transport of animals! A HUGE thanks to the ASPCA!

Every week, Jenny Fitzer (Leech Lake Legacy Program Director) coordinates and organizes the transport of animals from Red Lake and Leech Lake Reservations to partner shelters and rescues who then place the animals up for adoption. The $2,500 grant will be a tremendous help to Leech Lake Legacy in covering our transport expenses (gas and maintenance of our cargo van, 'Audrae' .. donated by LLL volunteer Terri Hill last December in memory of her Aunt Audrae). Our weekly transports involve getting donated food and crates up to Leech Lake and Red Lake and transporting animals back to the Twin Cities to our partner groups. The ASPCA will also fund transport expenses for our Great Puppy Roundups and transporting surrenders to partner groups from our clinics.

Thank you ASPCA!!
